all you need to do is go to the NOKIA website and download the handset manager for your phone. I have done it with the 7210 and the 6610

Nokia phone only can send business card( the contact list ), and reminders, notes.. i think that's it. U can't send Logos, Ringtones to another nokia phone. But it is possible if using PC with IR. Sony ercisson is different, such as T610. They open the code to let 610 send pictures, tones, notes, contact to another Sony ericsson phones only. None of the phone can send sms using ir from one phone to another phone. Tele Company wana earn money...

you can´t send java file, simply because there's no option. I send files like logos and phonebooks between 8850, 8210 and 6610.
Anyway I send everything through my computer, it's faster with oxygen.
Yes, you can connect your PC to internet using IR port mobile, sometimes I had to do it with my notebook at work, but speed is low and the price...

2. Bluetooth - there is no so large differences between possibilies of BT and IrDA. Of course i`m not talking about speed connection, range etc...., but both things is made up for datas` transmissions.
In my opinion there are possibilities to write program in java which will be able to have IrDA control, but this it, of course, not very good for game sellers. That`s why i`ve got my problem .

As Far as i know bluetooth is the technology that is using the IR port to send and recieve data from phon2phone without any additional help, correct me if I am wrong
Bluetooth has nothing common team-mate with IrDA. This is different way of broadcast of data - BT uses radio waves on frequency 2,4 GHz. It doesn`t use nothing common with infra-red!!!
Bluetooth is quicker (1MB/s), it works on larger distances (10 m when use 1mW), which is dearer and more unfailing.
Only one is the same function is to connect things. I don`t see any other links between IrDA & BT.
More can read on http://www.bluetooth.com/
Who told u that BT uses IR port????Last edited by michau; 12-25-2003 at 06:45 AM.
