    Hi:

The cable u have is a data cable and not service cable. however you can convert the cable u have to a service cable by masking oin 4 and pin 10. then it becomes a service cable and wil be able to read the log.

    thanks

I just got mine done that way.

"How-To" Unlock Your Panasonic GU87 using USB Data Cable

Hi Everyone, this will explain most everything you'll need to know to unlock your Panasonic GU87.

NOTE that before you use any of the software, you will need to install the driver for the data cable which probably came with the data cable... I tried to attach it as a .rar file, but the page will only allow pictures e.g. jpg, bmp, etc...

After that you need to open the device manager under LPT1 & COM Ports you'll see the data cable listed as MAT USB-to-Serial Bridge on port COM7 most likely, open the properties select advanced and change the com port to COM1 this step is very important.

As you move on and are ready to begin using each software (there are three 1. Winmodo 2. CB2000 3. Crack2d) be sure to select the settings option and change the port to COM1.

    Download links:
http://www.ilcaso.too.it/ (select the GD87 link on the left side of the page)

To check your current bios version turn the phone off... turn the phone on and as soon as the screen shows searching for network key the following *#9999# (press and hold the last # until the info shows up on the screen) If your currentl bios version is not A22 or below, you will need to download A22 or A21.

    Here is the How-To:

    ________________________________________
    My Notes:
-Open device manager and change the port setting to port 1 for the MAT USB-to-Serial Bridge and make sure the settings in each software program all point at com 1 too.
-I had to downgrade to A21 but now that I figured out the com 1 thing… A22 may have worked after all.
-Scotch tape see pictures 002 & 003 attached

Is it possible to get the phone unlocked remotely (paid sites) and then upgrade the firmware. I read that if I want to unlock it myself then I will have to downgrade it to A22 and then unlock it and then upgrade and it seems like it's pretty risky. Thanks for your help.

Here is some info on A22 situation:

    Crack2D Instructions

Crack2D is only able to unlock the EEPROM on A22 firmware or lower. It doesn't work on A39,A53,A55 (in fact, it seems to lock the EEPROM).

Note**: If downgrading or upgrading firmware then MAIN & BOOT sections in WinMoDo must both be checked, when flashing firmware.

    pls try as follows:

    1) Phone was originally A22 firmware - CB2000 showed it as EEPROM locked and network lock active. Note*, If not A22 firmware, you must first flash phone using Winmodo with the A22 firmware, then use Crack2D to unlock it.
    2) Read with crack2d - gives code to unlock network lock (make a note of it)
    3) Checked again with CB2000 - now EEPROM is shown as unlocked, but simlock still active
    4) Unlocked with 746 menu menu nck (entered codes generated in log file by Crack2D
    5) CB2000 now shows EEPROM unlocked, sim unlocked.
    6) Reflash to A39,A53,A55 with WinModo
    7) Perform function reset / memory clear with CB2000

If you don't do the function reset, then you may have problems with the phone locking up (for example when you exit WAP) *Note that this procedure erases your WAP and MMS server list entries, so it's probably a good idea to make a note of them before you start.

At this point, it was all unlocked (SIM and EEPROM), and had either/or A39,A53,A55 installed.

    Flashing Instructions:

    -----------------------------------
    GD87/GD88 Firmware Upgrade Tutorial
    -----------------------------------
I did a successful 5 out of 5 attempts following these steps =]

    What you need:
    1. Data cable, USB or serial. I used USB.
    2. A Scotch tape
    3. WinMoDo
    4. CB2000 1.3 or later

    Step 1.

    a. First, make sure that you fully charge the battery, and your phone TURNED OFF.
    b. Do not connect the cable yet.
    c. Start WinMoDo
    d. click the "BOOT","MAIN",&"LANGUAGE" to turn it into a green state, and choose "GD87" for the "Model"
    e. Browse for the "Image File" ex: GAD87A39.rel for A39 nosound
    f. Browse for the "Language Pack File" ex: G7D87L56.rel for A39 nosound
    g. Connect the data cable without covering the pins.
    h. Click "Start download" and when WinMoDo displays "Signalling...," push the power button once but DO NOT hold it.
    i. You will then see "Changing Protocol..."
The process will take approximately 15-20mins, as the transfer is doing approximately 10Kb/sec.
Mine took 16m01s for A39 upgrade and 15m38s for A53 upgrade.
    j. Close the phone, WinMoDo will display "Waiting for response..."
Also, there should be a green light on front of the phone, and the sub LCD on your phone will say:
    FLASH LOADER
    GD87 Version 1.3
    Erasing Sectors
    After that it will say:
    FLASH LOADER
    GD87 Version 1.3
    Writing
And WinMoDo will display a progress bar for the BOOT, MAIN, and LANGUAGE during the process.
After the writing process it will display in the sub LCD:
    FLASH LOADER
    GD87 Version 1.3
    Checking CRC
And "Waiting for checksum response..." in WinMoDo
    k. When completed, WinMoDo will display "Download completed successfully..."
    and on the sub LCD:
    FLASH LOADER
    GD87 Version 1.3
    Complete
    l. After that, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT power on the phone!

    Step 2.

    a. Again, DO NOT power on the phone. Disconnect the data cable and cover the pins "4" and "10" (Use a scotch tape, and trim it)
    b. Reconnect the data cable and make sure you DO NOT turn the phone on.
    c. Start CB2000
    d. Select model, GD87. change port if necessary.
    e. Click "Handset Power", and then click the power button once and not holding it.
    f. You should see "TESTSET INFO ON" on your phone's main LCD.
    g. Click "Data" on the standard toolbar, and select "Write handset"
    h. Go to the "Settings" tab
    i. Click on the "Function Clear (Memory Erase)" button once and wait for 10 secs or so.
    j. After that, your handset will then say "MMI DEFAULT PASSED"
    k. Disconnect the cable. Power off and power back on your handset, and you're done! CHEERS!

*To check the firmware, power on the phone and when it says "Searching for network..." press *#9999 and hold #
if you upgraded to A39 firmware it will say ..A39-39 or ..A53-53 for A53 firmware.

    Hi again,
I am having problems with checking the current firmware on this phone. I tried *#9999# but it does not do anything. I tried it right after powering it up. There is no sim card in the phone, does it matter? I did have a cingular card that I can use if required but the phone is still not locked, I am waiting on the data cable. Is there anything that I am doing wrong?
Also, this phone is GU87, I believe if I flash it with a GD firmware it should still be ok, right?? Thanks for your help!

Yes, you must have a sim card in the phone. Otherwise it works for emergency calls ONLY!

Thanks for all your help. I was able to unlock my phone with no problems

    Chris1Will thanks for the information!

I managed to unlock the browser after I downgraded to A22. But once I upgraded back to A53, it wouldn't let me connect to the browser again. Do you know why this would be? I hope I don't need to keep the phone in version A22 just so the browser will work.

yes, if you put in a sim card from whatever service provider the phone is locked to and then press 746 menu menu, it should allow you to re-enter the code.

I think you need to key in the settings again for browsing. Otherwise you would not be able to do so.

Whenever I use crack2d to unlock phone it always times out. How do you use cb2000 to upload game ctc's to the phone?
