help ! fido sim card in t-mobile bold 9700 ?

sorry if this is stupid, i recently bought a bold 9700 off someone with a rogers account .. that received a t-mobile phone ? anyway my fido sim card isn't fitting in the slot .. it simply won't slide in ? i'm pretty sure all the sim card sizes are the same but i was just wondering maybe they altered the phone to make it fit american sim cards ? i've been trying to push in the sim card but it just gets stuck and i'm scared of damaging the phone. thanks !

the simcard slot is the same, make sure you are not mistaking the miniusb memory slot with the simcard slot which is located behind the battery
