Transferring Audio Files to Use as Ringtones
Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Core LTE to your computer via USB
- From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- In the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired audio files are stored on your computer
- Copy the files, and paste them on your smartphone's storage
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone
Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:
NOTE: You can skip the first 2 steps if you already have Samsung Kies installed on your Mac.
- Navigate to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS", and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Kies on your Mac
- Establish a connection between your smartphone and Mac via USB
- On the smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- Open Kies on your Mac
- In Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "External memory" or "Internal memory"
- In Kies, navigate to where you want to transfer the music files
- On the Mac, navigate to where the audio files are stored on the hard drive
- Drag and drop the desired files in Kies
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the Mac
Preparing the Audio Files for Use as Ringtones and Notifications
Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:
- Press the "Menu" button while viewing the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones" > "Add"
- Select either "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
- Select to open "Always" or "Just once"
- Tap the desired audio file and tap "OK"
Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:
- Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
- Tap "My files" > "All files"
- Navigate to the audio files you've transferred for using as notification sounds
- Tap and hold the desired file, and select "Copy"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Open the "Notifications" folder
- Tap "Paste here"
Setting Custom Ringtones and Notifications
Changing Your Phone's Ringtone:
- Press the "Menu" key while viewing the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
- Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
Setting a Custom Ringtone to a Specific Contact:
NOTE: you can't assign custom ringtones for contacts that are stored on the phone's internal memory or the SIM card
- Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
- Select the desired contact
- Tap the "Edit" icon depicted as a pencil
- Tap "Ringtone"
- Select the desired audio file to use as a ringtone, and tap "OK"
- Tap "Save"
Setting a Custom Notification Sound:
- Press the "Menu" button while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Touch the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Notifications"
- Select the desired notification sound
- Tap "OK"
