Transferring Contacts via Google Sync:

Using a Google account you can easily transfer the contacts from one Android device to another, by simply syncing the contacts from the sender device with Google, and then registering the same account on the receiving smartphone to re-sync the contacts, as explained below:

  1. Sign in with your Google account on the HTC Desire 600
  2. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
  5. Tap "Google" and select the desired account
  6. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Sync all". NOTE: optionally you can just clear and mark the check box associated with "Contacts"
  7. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and register the same Google account as the one used on the Desire 600
  8. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  9. Open "Settings"
  10. Scroll to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  11. Press "Menu" > "Sync all". The contacts synced with the Google account should now be shared with your smartphone

Transferring Contacts via "Import / Export":

Using the "People" / "Contacts" applications, you can export the contacts stored on the Desire 600 in the form of a backup VCF file. Then, you can send the file to the Galaxy S5 via email, or transfer it using a computer. Once the file is transferred, you can easily import it on the Galaxy S5. Just follow the steps below:

  1. On the HTC Desire 600, launch the "People" application
  2. Make sure you are on the "People" tab
  3. Tap the "Menu" icon > "Manage contacts"
  4. Tap "Import / Export contacts" > "Export to phone storage" (or SD card)
  5. Select an account and remember to write down the vCard file's name before tapping "OK"
  6. Once you have the file, launch the email application
  7. Compose a new email and attach the previously created vCard file to it
  8. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  9. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and open the email containing the attachment
  10. Download the file and launch the "Contacts" app
  11. Press "Menu" and tap "Import / Export" > "import from SD card" / "storage"
  12. If necessary, select an account and then load the downloaded VCF file

NOTE: once you have created the vCard file on the HTC Desire 600, you can also transfer it to the Samsung Galaxy S5 by simply connecting both smartphones to a computer and then copy > pasting the file from the Desire 600's storage to the SGS5's memory

Sharing Contacts via "Send Anywhere":

"Send Anywhere" is a third party application that can be used to transfer contacts and various other types of files from one phone to another, cross-platform, via a P2P connection. This method doesn't require access to a computer.

  1. Visit the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both smartphones
  2. Once the app has been installed, open it on both handsets
  3. From the HTC Desire 600, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Mark the contacts that you wish to share, and then tap "Send"
  5. The last step requires you to pick a method of transfer. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Desire 600 in order to create a code that can be scanned with the SGS5's camera to commence the transfer. Alternatively, by tapping "Receive" on the Galaxy S5 you can enter the randomly generated transfer code from the Desire 600
