Backing Up Your App Data:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Open the "Settings" menu
- Scroll to "User and Backup", and tap "Backup and reset"
- If necessary, sign in with your Google account. If you need to add one, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
- If required, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
Contact Backup
Backing Up Contacts Using a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open the "Contacts" application
- Tap "Settings" and select "Merge accounts"
- Tap "Google" or "Samsung account"
- To merge the contacts, tap "OK"
Backing Up Contacts using the SD Card:
- Ensure that the SD card is installed on the Young 2
- From the home screen, tap "Apps" > "Settings"
- Swipe to "Applications" and tap "Contacts"
- Tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
- For future use, make sure you write down the backup file's name
- Tap "OK" to confirm
Backing Up Media Files
Backing Up Media Files Using the Phone's Storage:
- Make sure the SD card is installed on your device
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Launch "My Files"
- Scroll to "Local storage" and then tap "Device storage"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
- Locate the files and folders you wish to back up. NOTE: generally speaking, files of interest are found in the "DCIM", "Ringtones", "Downloads" folders etc.
- Mark the check boxes next to the files you wish to back up
- Press "Menu" and tap "Copy" > "SD card"
- Navigate to where you wish to back up the files, and tap "Paste here"
Backing Up Media Files Using a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy Young 2 and your computer
- Drag the "Status" bar down from the home screen
- Tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- Click "Open device to view files", from the AutoPlay window that should pop-up on the computer
- Navigate to where the media files are stored on your smartphone
- Copy the files you wish to back up, and paste them on the computer's hard drive
Backing Up Media Files using a Mac Computer:
NOTE: You should skip the first 3 steps if you've already installed Samsung Kies on your Mac
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Navigate to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on the Mac
- Once Kies has been installed, connect the Young 2 to the Mac via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"
- On the Mac, launch Samsung Kies
- Access the "Back up / Restore" tab and then click the "Backup" tab
- Mark the "Photo" and "Music" check boxes, or click "Select all items"
- After selecting the desired files, click "Backup"
- Once the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone from the Mac
