Enabling Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to "Quick Settings" and tap "Power saving"
  4. Touch "Power saving mode"
  5. Set the "Power Saving Mode" switch to "ON"
  6. Optionally, mark the check box next to "Restrict background data"
  7. Tap "Restrict performance" and set the feature's switch to "ON"
  8. Set the mode to work as you desire, by marking / clearing the check boxes next to "CPU performance", "Screen output" etc.

Enabling Ultra Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Quick Settings"
  3. Tap "Power saving" > "Ultra power saving mode"
  4. Set the "Ultra power saving mode" switch to "ON"
  5. In the disclaimer pop-up, tap "OK"
  6. Optionally, change the mode's settings as desired

Decreasing the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Display"
  3. Tap "Screen timeout" and set the screen to turn off after "15 seconds" or inactivity or so
  4. Tap "Brightness" and move the slider to the left
  5. Tap "OK" to confirm

Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HotSpot and GPS:

NOTE: A smartphone's connectivity features can have a negative impact on your battery life. As such, it's recommended that you disable all connectivity features when not in use, including Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Network Connections" and then tap "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
  4. Tap "Mobile HotSpot" and set the feature's switch to "OFF"
  5. Press "Back" and tap "Location" under "Network Connection"
  6. Tap "Mode" and select either "Power saving" or "GPS only"
  7. Press the "Back" key twice
  8. Tap "Wi-Fi" and set the feature's switch to "OFF"
  9. Press "Back" again then tap "Bluetooth"
  10. Set the switch associated with "Bluetooth" to "OFF"

Changing App Sync Settings:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing any home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Network Connections"
  3. Tap "Data usage" and press "Menu"
  4. Clear the check box next to "Auto sync data"
  5. Review the message and tap "OK"
  6. To view the list of apps, scroll down
  7. Tap an app to manually change its sync settings

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer and tap "Settings"
  2. Under "Network Connections", tap "Data usage"
  3. Press "Menu" and mark the "Restrict background data" check box
  4. Tap "OK" to confirm

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: even though you may not use certain third party apps, they can still have an impact on your phone's battery performance assuming that they run services and processes in the background. As such, it's recommended that you either disable or uninstall unused apps:

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Applications"
  3. Tap "Application manager"
  4. Go to the "Downloaded" tab
  5. Tap and hold an application and select "Force stop"
  6. Alternatively, tap "Uninstall" to completely remove the app

Keeping Your Smartphone Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates sometimes include improvements to the phone's power management system, resulting in higher battery life. As such, it's advised to keep your smartphone up to date. Keep in mind that following the steps below while no update is available will not have any effect on your phone's battery performance

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "System"
  3. Tap "About device" > "Software update"
  4. Tap "OK"
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
