Transferring Audio Files

Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  4. From the AutoPlay window on the PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Go to where you plan on transferring the files on your smartphone
  6. Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to the audio files stored on your PC
  7. Transfer the desired files from the PC to the smartphone
  8. Once the process is done, safely disconnect your smartphone by first clicking the "removable storage" icon from the system tray

Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac

  1. Open the Internet browser on your Mac and visit Kies
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on the Mac
  3. Next, connect the Galaxy S4 VE to the Mac via USB
  4. On the smartphone's screen, swipe the "Notification" bar down
  5. Tap "Connected as a media device" and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  6. Launch Kies and click the "Folder" icon associated with "Internal memory" or "External memory"
  7. Navigate to where you wish to transfer the audio files on your smartphone
  8. Locate the desired audio files stored on the Mac
  9. Drag the audio files from the Mac and drop them on the smartphone
  10. Once the process is done, safely disconnect your SGS4 VE from the Mac

Managing the Notification and Ringtone List

Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:

  1. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Sound"
  3. Tap "Ringtones" and then press "Add"
  4. Select to add ringtones using the "Sound picker" or tap "Choose music track"
  5. Tap "Just once" or "Always"
  6. Press "OK" to confirm

Adding Audio Files in the Notification List:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch "My Files"
  3. Tap "All files" and locate the desired audio files
  4. Tap and hold a file you wish to use for notifications and tap "Copy"
  5. Tap "Device storage" and open the "Notifications" folder
  6. Lastly, tap "Paste here"

Changing the Ringtone and Notification

Changing the Phone's Ringtone:

  1. From the home screen, tap "menu"
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Sound" > "Ringtone"
  3. Choose the ringtone you wish to set
  4. Tap "OK"

Setting a Custom Ringtone to One Contact Only:

NOTE: Custom ringtones can't be set for contacts stored on the phone's internal memory or the SIM card

  1. Launch the "Contacts" application
  2. Tap "Edit" > "Ringtone"
  3. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
  4. Tap "Save" to confirm

Setting a Song as Your Phone's Ringtone:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Launch "Settings" and tap "Music"
  3. Go to the "Tracks" tab and select a song
  4. Tap "menu" > "Set as"
  5. Press the "Auto recommendations" button
  6. Tap "phone ringtone", "Caller ringtone" or "Alarm ringtone" under "Set As"
  7. Tap "Done"

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Sound" and go to "Notifications"
  3. Select the desired notification and press "OK" to confirm
