Using a Google Account to Transfer Contacts:

You can sync the contacts stored on the Galaxy SIII with a Google account, which then allows you to re-sync the account with the Galaxy S4 Value Edition. This is a common method of contact transfer and works as follows:

  1. Sign in with your Google account on the Galaxy SIII
  2. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "My accounts"
  4. Tap "Google" and touch your "user name" or "email address"
  5. Clear and then mark the "Sync Contacts" check box, or tap "Sync now"
  6. On the Galaxy S4 VE, register the same Google account
  7. From the home screen, tap "Apps" > "Settings" and choose an account
  8. Press "Menu" and tap "Sync all"

Transferring Contacts via the "Contacts" App:

Using the preinstalled "Contacts" app on your Samsung devices, you can transfer the contacts stored on the SGSIII by exporting them in VCF / vCard format. After that, the backup (exported) file can be transferred to the SGS4 Value Edition via email or by using a computer

  1. Open the "Contacts" app on the SIII and access the "Contacts" tab
  2. Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  3. Press "Menu" again and tap "import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
  4. Ensure that you'll be able to remember the backup file's name for future use
  5. Tap "OK"
  6. Launch the email app and compose a new email
  7. Attach the VCF file to the email, and send it to your own Gmail address
  8. On the Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition, open the email and download the attached file
  9. Launch the "Contacts" app and then press "Menu" > "Import / Export"
  10. Tap "Import from SD card" and select an account to import the contacts to

NOTE: Once the VCF file has been created on the SIII, you can transfer it to the SGS4 VE by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and then copying the file to the S4's "sdcard" directory, manually. Then, launch the "Contacts" app and import the file on the S4 as explained above

Using "Send Anywhere":

Lastly, "Send Anywhere" is a third party app that uses a peer-2-peer connection for transferring contacts and other types of files. To use this method of transfer:

  1. Go to the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both Samsung smartphones
  2. Launch the app on both devices
  3. On the SGSIII, tap "Send" and then choose "Contacts"
  4. Mark the contacts you wish to transfer and tap "Send"
  5. Lastly, choose the desired method of transfer. Tapping "Generate QR Code" on the SIII allows you to scan the resulting code with the S4 VE's camera in order to commence the transfer. As an alternative, you can tap "Receive" on the S4, and enter the randomly generated transfer code located on the SIII's screen
