Backing Up Applications:
- Press the "Menu" key while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- You need to be logged in to a Google account for the backup. If necessary, tap "Backup account" > "Add account" and follow the on-screen prompts to create or sign in with a Google account
- If necessary, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
Contact Backup
Backing Up Contacts Using a Samsung or Google Account:
- Tap the "Contacts" icon from the home screen
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Merge accounts"
- Select to "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung"
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account if necessary and follow any additional steps if required
Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- Ensure that an SD card is installed on your phone
- Tap "Contacts" from the home screen
- Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Press the "Menu" key again and tap "Import / Export"
- Tap "Export to SD card"
- Touch "OK" to confirm
Media File Backup
Backing Up Media Files Using the SD Storage:
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Tap "My Files"
- Go to "All files"
- Tap "Device storage". NOTE: to back up all of your files, press "Menu", tap "Select all" and skip to step 6
- Mark the check boxes associated with the items you wish to back up
- Tap the "Menu" icon in the top-right area of the screen
- Select to "Copy" or "Move" the files
- Tap "SD memory card" and navigate to the destination folder
- Tap "Paste here" or "Move here" depending on your initial choice
Backing Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Use the USB cable to connect the Galaxy Ace NXT to your computer
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- From the AutoPlay window on your computer, click to "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Locate the desired files stored on your device
- Copy the files you wish to back up, and paste them in the desired backup location on your computer's HDD
- Once the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC
Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac
- Using your Mac's Internet browser, go to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process
- Connect the Galaxy Ace NXT to the Mac via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box and launch Kies on the Mac
- From Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Backup" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo" or any other types of files you want to back up. Optionally, tap "Select all items"
- Click "Backup" and wait for the process to complete
- Once done, safely disconnect your smartphone
