Clearing an Application's Cache or Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications isn't working as intended, you might be able to fix this behavior by clearing the app's cache or data. WARNING! Clearing an app's data will result in the deletion of personal information stored within the app, including saved games, credit card and user information, high scores, settings etc. As such, you should try fixing these problems by clearing the app's cache first.

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Access "Settings"
  3. Access the "More" tab and tap "Application manager"
  4. Swipe to the "All", "Downloaded", "Running" or "SD Card" screen
  5. Select the desired application
  6. Tap "Clear cache". If this fails, tap "Clear data" and press "OK"

Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your smartphone crashes, freezes or has unwanted behavior, then you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the phone's cache partition. Unlike a factory reset, clearing the cache can solve a number of issues on your device without having to lose any personal information stored on the internal memory. To clear the phone's cache partition:

  1. Turn off the Galaxy V
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. After the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep pressing the "Volume Up" and" Home" keys
  4. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release all hardware buttons
  5. Press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partition"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  7. After the cache partition is cleared, press "Power" to reboot your device

Rebooting in Safe Mode to Remove Applications:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues on your phone and you are unable to remove it, then you should be able to easily dispose of it by rebooting your phone in safe mode first. In safe mode, all third party apps are disabled. To enter safe mode and remove an application:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Power" button to turn on your smartphone
  3. At the "Samsung" logo, press and hold the "Volume down" button until the phone reboots to the lock screen
  4. Once rebooted, the phone should display a "Safe mode" label in the lower-left corner of the screen
  5. To remove an app, press "Menu" while on the home screen
  6. Go to "Settings" and access the "More" tab
  7. Tap "Application manager" and swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  8. Select the desired app and tap "Uninstall" > "OK"
  9. To exit safe mode, reboot your phone as you normally would
