Back Up Applications:

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Backup and reset"
  4. Ensure a Google account is registered on your device. If not, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
  5. Check the "Back up my data" and "Backup account" boxes if necessary

Back Up Contacts

Using a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. Launch "Contacts"
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Merge accounts"
  3. Select either "Google" or "Samsung account"
  4. Tap "OK" to confirm and back up your contacts on the selected account

On the SD Card:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Go to "Applications" and tap "Contacts"
  3. Tap "Menu" > "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  4. Tap "Import /Export" and choose to "Export to SD card"
  5. Tap "OK" and make sure you remember the name of the backup file for future use

Back Up Media Files

On the SD Card:

  1. Launch "My Files"
  2. Tap "Device storage" under "Local storage"
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
  4. Browser for the files you want to back up and check their associated checkboxes
  5. Tap "Menu" and select "Copy"
  6. Tap "SD Card" and navigate to the desired backup location
  7. Tap "Paste here"

Using a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Galaxy E7 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar and make sure "Media device" is enabled
  3. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, double-click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  4. Open the "Card" or "Phone" directory and locate the desired backup files
  5. Copy the files and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer
  6. Paste the files on the HDD and once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and disconnect it from the PC

Using a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip directly to step 4

  1. Open the Internet browser on your Mac
  2. Visit Kies
  3. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Galaxy E7 to your Mac via USB
  5. Ensure the phone is connected as a "Media Device"
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / Restore" tab
  7. Access the "Backup" tab and mark the boxes next to "Photos", "Music" and other desired media file types
  8. Click "Backup" to start the process. Once done, drag the Galaxy E7 storage icon into "Trash / Eject" and safely disconnect your smartphone
