WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all personal data on the internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, media files, downloaded content, contacts, applications etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected. To learn how you can back up and restore data on the Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro, visit this thread.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Restore”
  5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device”
  6. If your phone is protected by a password / PIN (lock screen), enter the security credentials to proceed
  7. Tap “Continue” > “Delete all”

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it from the settings menu, you can reset the device from the Android System Recovery menu. It can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses, as follows:

  1. First, turn off the phone if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power”, “Volume Up” and “Home” at the same time
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power”
  4. When the “Android” logo appears, release “Home” and “Volume Up”
  5. Wait for the Android menu to appear (it may take 1-2 minutes)
  6. Once in the Recovery menu, navigate it using the volume keys
  7. Press “volume down” to highlight “Wipe data / factory reset”
  8. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  9. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes – delete all user data”
  10. Press “Power” again
  11. Once the phone resets, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
  12. Press “Power” one last time to confirm and restart your device

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: It’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download after a factory reset. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to, and tap “About device”
  3. Check if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update(s)
