Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing this behavior by clearing the applications cache and / data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all the personal information stored within the app will be deleted. This includes credit card and login information, saved games, profiles, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Applications
- Optionally, tap Menu > Show system apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs slow, or runs out of storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by wiping the phones cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data in the process.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power at the same time
- At the Samsung / Android logo, release all buttons and wait for the Android System Recovery menu to appear
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the Recovery menu and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm
- After the cache partition is cleared, Reboot system now should be highlighted
- Press Power to restart your phone
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can, instead, factory reset the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it from the phone, you should be able to easily dispose of the app by first rebooting your phone into Safe Mode, and uninstalling the app from there. To enter Safe Mode:
- First turn off the phone
- Next, press and hold Power
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Keep holding Volume Down until the phone finishes rebooting
- Once the phone reboots, it should display a Safe Mode logo in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Then, tap Applications
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall
- Tap Uninstall again to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power, then tap Restart to reboot your phone as you normally would
