I am looking at a S5 from a third party vendor. I have some question on the phone as the wording is a bit confusing.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Charcoal Black 3G Quad-Core 2.5GHz Unlocked GSM Phone and under details it says Compatible Carrier & Service AT&T 2G/3G, T-Mobile 2G, Rogers, Fido.
    Wireless
    RadioGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
    UMTS 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 MHz

Right now is this only going to have 2g on a T-Mobile network? Thank you

It looks like they're not offering 4g, so the fastest you'd get is 3g data.

    What 3rd party is it?

Oh okay, I thought you were referring to a carrier that works on the t-mobile network when you said 'third party'

This one? Samsung Galaxy S5 Charcoal Black 3G Quad-Core 2.5GHz Unlocked GSM Phone + UAG White Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 - Newegg.com

I'm guessing this is the AT&T model (SM-G900A) and not the T-mobile model (SM-G900T). They say 2g because the T-mobile model has an antenna that can handle T-mobile's AWS bands. To get T-mobile 3g you need the HSPA+/UMTS 1900MHz band available in your area OR AWS (which is 1700MHz AND 2100MHz)

So yeah, to be guaranteed any data faster than 2g (and 4g LTE if you have it in your city), you'll want to get the SM-G900T.
