Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia M5 to your computer via USB
  2. Make sure the phone is connected as a media device
  3. Open an Explorer window on the computer, and locate the desired audio files on the PC storage
  4. Copy the files, and navigate to the phone storage
  5. Paste the files in the media directory, preferably in the “Music” and “Notifications” folders
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray
  7. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB

Change the Phone Ringtone:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Under “Device”, tap “Sound”
  4. Tap “phone ringtone” under “Ringtone & Vibration”
  5. Tap the “Music” icon and select the file you want to use for ringtones
  6. Tap “Done”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts stored on the phone’s internal memory or the SIM card.

  1. Tap “Phone” on the home screen
  2. Access the “Contacts” tab
  3. Select the desired contact
  4. Tap “Edit” shaped like a pencil
  5. Scroll to and tap the “Ringtone” drop-down menu
  6. Select the desired ringtone and tap “Done”

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound”
  3. Tap “Default notification sound” under “System”
  4. Select the desired notification sound (NOTE: Newly added notifications will be found at the bottom of the list)
  5. Tap “Done”
