Transfer Audio Files From a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia X to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the desired audio files on the PC storage and copy them
  5. Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Ringtones” / “Notifications” / “Alarms” folder(s)
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Change the Phone’s General Ringtone:

  1. Open the apps drawer on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Sound & Notification” under “Device”
  4. Tap “phone ringtone”
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK”
  6. Optionally you can choose to enable or disable “Also vibrate for calls”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts located on the phone’s internal memory or the SIM card.

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Tap and hold the desired contact
  3. Tap “Edit” > “Menu”
  4. Tap “Set ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm

Change the Notification Alert Sound:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Sound & Notification”
  4. Tap “Default notification ringtone”
  5. Select the desired notification ringtone
  6. Tap “OK” to confirm
