    Would any unlocked GSM phone work with a T-Mobile SIM card or does it have to be one of the phones they offer?

    as long as it operates in the same frequency. So basically most unlocked gsm phones will work with t-mobile. Most have several bands so you wont have any problems.

    T-Mobile runs on 1900 Mhz,so if a phone is Tri-Band,it's guaranteed to be compatible with Tmobile.
