Hi everyone. I am currently on a FAMILY PLAN with T-mobile, but want to keep my original number when I leave to AT&T. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this process. Do I need to notify T-mobile before my move? If I do so, wouldn't that cancel my number? But if I don't, will I keep being charged by T-mobile (I'm on a family plan with 3 lines.. so technically I pay extra $10 for my line). Thanks!

Re: Leaving T-Mobile & Keeping Current Number
you are under contract. leaving tmobile you are terminating the contract early. Unless your contract is about to expire i dont recommend making the move.
But if you dont mind paying the hefty fee that comes along for leaving T-mobile then just call At&t buy your phone, sign up for a phone and tell them that you will be porting your existing tmobile number to at&t. YOu do not need to tell tmobile bc if you do they will disconnect your number and you will lose the number.

yes, thats nice. good luck on that. Remember, just call AT&T and port your number. Do not cancel with T-mobile before time as you will lose the number.

Does this apply to post paid (contract) telephone numbers only or does it apply to prepaid also?

Re: Leaving T-Mobile & Keeping Current Number
OK quick question. Does cancelling early and paying my ETF affect my credit rating?
I just signed up for a contact for 2 years. I don't mind it but don't know if I will like it two years from now. I don't mind paying the ETF. I'm still in the 14 day grace period.

yes, timwil, it affects both. prepaid and post paid accounts.
badtripsuck, no it doesnt not affect your credit rating as far as i know. i've cancelled many times and has not yet affected my credit, so based on my personal experience it doesnt. And i do keep a an eye on my credit score.
