Have you ever had any issues related to this prior, installed anything recently or have issues with signal strength there?

You'll most likely have to perform a soft reset... not knowing precisely why your screen might've frozen up on you... sometimes that just happens apparently for no obvious reason... it's easier to diagnose if we know just a little more information about the state of your device... the reset should take care of it though and get you back to the welcome screen...

For a soft reset see if there's a hole at the bottom or on the backside of your device... like you'd see on your computer to release a disk... just poke a blunt item into that hole ( a stylus or paper clip...) that should reset your phone and end whatever process is continuing... also if you do remove your battery you must remove it for at least 8 hours or so usually to disable that internal battery... but attempt the soft reset first if you can... and see what happens. Contact tech support too if you haven't already... might also take it in and see what they say if there's a nearby location.
