changing the faceplate on kx16

Well guys, I figured out how to get to it, but it looks like it requires a special kind of screwdriver or something to change it. The head of the screw has a y on it...not like a typical phillips head...Can anyone tell me where I can get this tool?
Thanks!

How do you do it? It takes a t-3 screwdriver. You can get them on ebay.

I think the original poster is mistaken. My wife just got a KX16. I got a custom faceplate and back cover for her from eBay. Looking at the replacement faceplate, it's evident that there is no screw. It has tabs, and that's it.

But we were unsuccessful in getting the original off. The original is flush with the phone all the way around. It would take a screwdriver the width of a razor blade to get under it. We tried with said razor blade and it wasn't pretty. We succeeded only in getting one little corner to lift up a little, but we were scratching the heck out of the thing in the process. Then after we gave up, we almost couldn't get it to go back down flush with the phone so it was sticking up a little. Finally got it all the way back down. Now I'm trying to find a cell repair place or somewhere, where I can leave it to professionals.

Well, I must apologize to the original poster. There ARE screws involved in changing the KX16 faceplate -- four of them!

I found a local place to change out my faceplate. She said she had never done a KX16 before but to bring it in anyway. I did, and she figured out exactly what to do:

1. Above the LCD screen, locate the little opening for the speaker. Now, look to the left and right of the speaker. You'll see two little raised circles. These are actually screw covers that pop right out!

2. Directly below the LCD screen is a label for the provider of your phone service (for me it was an Alltel logo). Turns out that this is also a screw cover! It has some adhesive, so you may have to work at it just a bit to get it off. There are 2 screws underneath.

All 4 screws require a T4 screwdriver head. Once you have the 4 screws out, you can use a thin pry tool to pop off the faceplate.

Completely correct except for one thing, the screwdriver you need is a tri-blade (we call it a Sanyo screwdriver). BTW, we own 10 cellular accessory stores in the southeastern U.S. so we see this type of stuff on a daily basis!

I guess the tri-blade (is that the same thing as a Tri-Wing?) probably works best. But the T3 works, too. I stood there and watched the lady go through just about every tool she had until she found one that worked. And then we looked at it and saw that it was a T3.

Hey, let me ask you something since you're involved with accessories. Have you ever seen, or do you happen to have, a serial cable (not USB) for the KX16? Mobile Phone Tools works with the USB cable, but in order to use the PST software, Kyocera tells me that you have to have a serial cable. Since I'm not a dealer, they wouldn't give me any other information on it, and I couldn't find anything on eBay other than the USB cable.
