Kyocera, changing phone companies?

i have a Alltel kyocera Qualcomm 3G CDMA. I heard with the CDMA i could unlock it and switch the company from alltel to verizon. The story is i got a family plan on verizon that i gotta stick with on a crappy phone and i was just wondering if i could put that verizon family plan into the alltel kyocera? Any ideas, suggestions, or any way to answer this question? No, i cant change my plan. And can i do this with little to no cost if i can?

The phone would have to be flashed with verizon software, which is fine if you can find a verizon tech to do it You're better off getting a new phone.
