Enabling MaxiMZR:

NOTE: MaxiMZR is a feature that allows the phone to automatically limit the background data connection for certain apps in order to improve battery life.

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "MaxiMZR"
  4. Press the "MaxiMZR" switch to set it to "ON"
  5. Tap "Apps" to see what applications are affected by MaxiMZR

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Adjusting the Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Display"
  4. Go to "Brightness" and drag the brightness slider to the left
  5. Tap "OK" and go to "Screen timeout"
  6. Select a lower value like "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: Your phone's connectivity features can have a pretty big impact on your phone's battery life, so it’s highly recommended that you disable these features whenever they are not in use. To do so:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Tap "mobile Hotspot" and clear the check box associated with this feature
  4. Press "Back" until you return to the "Settings" menu
  5. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Location access"
  6. Clear the "GPS satellites" check box
  7. Swipe the "Status" bar down from the home screen
  8. Tap the "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" icons to disable these features

Changing the Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "Personal"
  3. Tap "Accounts & sync"
  4. Clear the check box next to "Auto-sync data"
  5. To reduce sync settings for individual apps, tap one

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Launch the apps drawer
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap "Mobile data" and press "Menu"
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can have a negative effect on your phone's battery life even if you might not use them. This is because some applications run processes in the background, even when they are not open in the foreground. As such, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall applications that you don't actually use. To do so:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Apps"
  4. Select the app you wish to edit
  5. Tap "Disable" if you wish to turn off the app
  6. To completely remove the application, tap "Uninstall"

Switching from 4G to 2G:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Under "Network Settings", tap "Mobile networks"
  4. Mark the "Use only 2G networks" check box to restrict 4G connectivity
  5. To re-enable 4G, clear the check box

Keeping Your Smartphone Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates sometimes include fixes and improvements to battery life, so it's recommended that you keep your smartphone up to date. To check for updates:

  1. On the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "System"
  3. Tap "About phone" > "System updates"
  4. Tap "Check now"
  5. If an update is available, follow any additional prompts to download and apply it

NOTE: In case no update is available, then following the steps above will have no effect on your phone's battery performance.
