Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Tap “Eco Mode
  4. Tap “Auto on” and choose a battery percentage to enable Eco Mode automatically, or tap “ON” (always on)
  5. For more options on how Eco Mode works, tap the “Gear” icon located at the top-right corner of the screen

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Tap “Display
  4. Tap “Brightness level
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease screen luminosity
  6. Tap “Sleep” and choose a lower timeout setting

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS:

NOTE: If you disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use (GPS, Hotspot, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth), you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “notification” bar down
  2. Tap the “V” arrow
  3. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Hotspot”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to turn these features off

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” > “Cellular networks
  3. To use 2G only, change the “Preferred network type” to “GSM only

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data being synced by your device, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Tap “Accounts
  4. Press “Menu” and clear the “Auto-sync data” option

Disable Background Data:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Data usage
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Restrict background data
  4. Tap “OK” to confirm

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when they are not in use – assuming that the apps run regular tasks in the background. As such, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Tap “Apps” and swipe to “All
  4. Tap the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” to turn the app off
  6. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to completely remove the app from the phone

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Swipe to, and tap “About phone
  4. Tap “System updates
  5. “Check for updates” and if a new one is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it
