New Verizon VX8500 Chocolate User

Hi Guys;

New forum user here. Just bought myself a Verizon Wireless LG VX8500, AKA Chocolate. The phone is pretty slick in appearance, and I'm starting to get used to the touch sensitive controls. Big thumbs means you hit four buttons at once by accident. But getting better.

My major problem is, the Verizon user interface. The fact that they put it on every single bloody phone they have, and there doesn't seem to be a way to modify it at all. My issue with the UI is not so much that it's there, it's that I find it difficult to read, with bad eyesight.

Does anybody know how you could increase the font size if at all possible?

If this kind of question needs to be moved, I'd be happy to follow it elsewhere.
Thanks
Dan

If your talking about the background "theme" you can change that, under display settings.

No, I was talking about the whole interface. LG must have had their own software and menu system before Verizon got their little hands on it.

If you had read my post my problem was with the font size and the readability by those with low vision.

It's not a problem for me anymore, because I took the phone back and swapped it for a Motorola e815; the only Verizon phone that didn't have their crap on it. Sadly, its discontinued now. They need to have at least ONE phone that doesn't have their software on it, or modify the software so that you can increase the font size if needed.

Not everybody in the world has 20/20 vision and can read 2 point font.

All of their phones will have the Verizon UI on them. It's a standard that Verizon is moving towards because it does please the masses. There will be several people that are unhappy with it, but the majority of people like it a lot.

And FYI, the manufacturer puts the Verizon UI on the phones. The phones never have the manufacturer UI on them to begin with. Verizon doesn't do anything to the phones; they're shipped the way they are.

I'm sorry but that's just horrible marketing. Everything EXCEPT the verizon UI is customizable on their phones. Why not the UI too?

If they're all about making their phones customizalbe, albiet at a cost of $2.99 a ringtone for their subscribers, they should open their eyes to the possibilities that maybe their subscribers would also like to make their phones LOOK different. They can retain the same menu structure, to take the burdon off of their customer service people, and still make as much money on "skins" as they do on ringtones.

There are several phones that have additional themes/menu structures to the Verizon UI. They're probably moving towards having the Verizon UI set as the default and having the other themes available for people that want to change it.
