LG Announces VX8600 (chocolate flip phone)

Last week LG announced details on the new VX8600, dubbed the "Chocolate Flip Phone", for Verizon wireless. It takes styling cues from the VX8500, and packs most of the same features. Although the 8600 has a lower resolution display than the 8500, the 8600 is thinner. Features include EVDO, stereo bluetooth, high speed data, microSD memory, a megapixel camera, music player, and external touch controls. No release date is currently known.

Comments, questions, concerns?

I just saw this a couple of days ago on phonescoop.com. It looks pretty sweet, with slightly less emphasis on the MP3 side of it...
I'd suspect release maybe a little closer to the holidays, just in time for the mad Xmas rush...

i dunno but i think this looks alot liek that one samsung phone that is copied fro the Razr.....

anyway i dont liek it :-/

I would personally rock this phone. I've seen the chocolate a lot and I generally don't like slider phones. They're too small for me.

actually the samsung was released before the razr... and the slider version is much better

If the Samsung you are referring to is the Blade, then the Razr was indeed released several years before it. The Razr was a GSM phone for T-mobile and Cingular long before Verizon was given the CDMA version.

well still this phone looks too much like both of them...id definently confidently say that LG copied of of the two other companies

There are similarities but there are some differences too. LG wouldn't do anything to get involved in a copyrighting lawsuit.

For those who like the slim flips, this is another nice alternative to be able to not have a Razr like a million other people.

I had the slider Chocolate for about 4 hours and took it back and got the vx8300 fpr two years!!

DAmn why didn't they bring this phone out sooner!!

It always works that way, your stuff becomes 'old school' about 10 minutes after you get it. The 8300 is a really good phone too. It will be interesting to see how the 8600 tastes, at least you get to hear the (good & bad) reviews from other people when it comes out. If you really like it, you can grab one off of eBay or somewhere else on the 'net.

They copied them because it's thin? So everyone copied (someone) when the first flip phone came out? Or everyone copied LG when the first outside LCD came out? they do look very similar. thats all i said, did i say anything about the flip phone or the outside OLED or the camera or the color screen? thats the most ridiculous reply ive ever heard!!

I don't think they look similar. It's thin. That's the only similarity. Everything that I mentioned follows the same logic that you're using. I'm sorry your logic is ridiculous.

I think this phone is going to be very nice. There were only a couple things I don't like about the chocolate....one being a slider and the other being a single screen phone. This new flip takes both of those away. I will be getting this phone for a family member as soon as it comes out. Now to just get my hands on the new 9900.
