#20 | | Member | Hi Paul
I'm sure you can find some software to flash/unlock your phone. Such a shame that they limit the ability of the phone for forcing you to buy their tones/content.
Does WAP upload work? If you try DRM packaged MP3's and a service like say wap-upload.com?
Bongo - check out Media Convert, this is one of the best finds I've made lately!!! You can cut your files online!
Paul you can also use Media-Convert.com to upload files, check it out!
I've also written a tutorial on creating a simple midi loop for ringtone on your phone (with Media-Convert's online midi sequencer) on my site.
Cheers

I've been kicking myself in the head trying to figure it out. I've tried finding it in options while playing, while not playing, in the phone memory, in the card memory, and a bunch of other ways. There is no place on my phone that says select as ringtone or anything like it. Did i get screwed? Do I need new software? Do I need to download programs? Did verizon just do this because their bastards and they dont want anyone using their own free ringtones?

On a Verizon phone, you would press the right navigation key; Get Tunes & Tones; My Ringtones; choose the file you want to set and press the left softkey (set as); choose what you want the ringtone set as. there, you are done. This is not possible from your "My Music" folder.

Correct me if im wrong but isnt this thread about ringtones for the LG Chocolate phone? | The menu instructions you gave do not correspond to the menus on the Verizon Wireless LG VX8500 (LG Chocolate). They may apply to the GSM LG KG800 (also called the Chocolate), but since that phone is not available through any US providers at this time, it's fairly safe to assume that people posting here are trying to get ringtones on the Verizon phone.
In the future, it may be helpful to specify what phone or service provider you have, or it can cause a considerable amount of confusion. I also causes some anger when something you have suggested doesn't work for others in the forum.

This is not possible from your "My Music" folder. | Maybe I downloaded the songs the wrong way. I already have over 100 mp3s on my phone which I downloaded using the v cast music essentials kit from verizon and none of them show up in my ringtones. The only ringtones stored there are the original ones. Should I be doing something different when transferring mp3s? I use windows media player to sync the songs to my phone.

However, as I have already stated, you can not use your music files as ringtones on your Verizon Chocolate. The best way to use your purchased music as ringtones for your Verizon Chocolate is to download the song to your PC. Cut the song to approximately :30 in length, then Pix Message this new file to your phone. It will end up saved in your "My Ringtones" folder, and accessible as a ringtone.
Good luck!
