LG Chocolate Now In Yellow.

Had my LG Chocolate (from Carphone Warehouse, UK) for about 8 weeks when it turned a milky yellow colour.

Been in contact with CPW and LG.

Spent 5 minutes watching a guy in my local carphone warehouse store cleaning it with some glass cleaner which made no difference whatsoever so they put me in contact with LG...

LG seem to think its "discoloured becuase its been in your pocket."

They have offered to "repair it", but i'm sceptical about their excuse which sounds pathetic.

Anyone else heard of this happening.

put it on ebay, "Yellow Chocolate Phone, mark of the Holy Ghost! L@@K"

Unfortunately the only face on it is the one in the LG logo.

Just had a look through the manual. They state their protective cover is "to protect against scratches".

Was it left in any direct sunlight? That's real strange to happen....It reminds me of white plastic left in UV light to much......

Sunlight - Its Autumn in England!

Heat - See above - and I've not left it near a radiator.

UV - nothing out of the ordinary; anyway, the discolourings on the back which wouldn't usually be in contact with any light.

Hah, wow, I never thought of this. Did you have it in a pair of new jeans?

Its been in a variety of trouser, and jacket pockets new and old. But at the time it changed colour I hadn't got anything new.

Thought i'd update this!

Sent the phone off to LG for repair; also sent the story into theregister (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/11..._goes_yellow/).

LG replaced the handset but didn't provide any reason for doing so. I have written to them asking for a specific reason but haven't had any reply whatsoever from them.

Is this one for the 9/11 conspiracy theorists or am i being paranoid?!

The Verizon chocolate has not had that problem. It seems to be limited to the GSM version at this time. Typical...

Gee, they must've used different plastics in the GSM.

I think they actually used a different coating, something with a little more UV protection in it.

So theres been others?

I have seen at last 2 other posts relating to this issue.

The same exact thing happened to my Verizon LG Chocolate phone!!! I have only had it for a day and I quickly glanced at it to check the time, when I discovered a yellow-ish stain on the battery and on the plastic covering. I tried to rub it with just about everything but couldn't get any of it off. I took off the plastic, but still leaves the the battery yellow. I would get it replaced but I am not sure if I should simply because I don't want this happening again.
