#1 | | Junior Member | Hey
I dont post often, but read from time to time. I bought the lg chocolate as soon as it was released.
Anyways, I had this issue for the past 2-3 weeks where my send key would not respond at all. I essentially had to use my phone through voice commands only since none of the touch sensitive buttons would always work (which can be frustarting). At vary times some of the other of touch sensitive buttons would not work. At first I thought it might have been some of the oil off of my hands interfering with the buttons, but it did not help cleaning the phone.
So finally getting fed up with the phone I took it to verizon to have it delt with and I was told they've been seeing this problem more commonly these days.
Is this true? Could it be a design issue with the phone or was it the way I might have been using the phone?

I have not had any Chocolates returned for the issue you speak of. Personally, I have had my Chocolate for over 3 months with no problems at all. You might try something as simple as adjusting the touch sensitivity on the phone. I would also recommend making sure that you are running the most current version of the phone's software (version 4). If all else fails, you are still under warranty and should get it replaced if you have not done so already.

Why would you stick with a possibly defective phone? It is not uncommon for an electronic device to have a defect in it. That does not mean that an entire line of phones is faulty. It is ridiculous to believe that this is anything more than an isolated issue.
In the 2 months since I originally responded to your post, I have seen exactly 1 Chocolate come back into my store for the problem you spoke of. the user had it for just under 3 weeks when it started to malfunction on him. He has now had the replacement for about 6 weeks with no recurrence. My coworkers and I have sold a lot of these phones, in all the various colors and we stand behind them 100%! Mine is over 5 months old and still working like a champ!

#6 | | Junior Member | A. I've bad luck with 2 phones. Now that I have the time to get it replaced again, I will.
When I mentioned about the possible recall, it wasn't me thinking about it just because my phone failed. It was me speaking with someone at a detroit area verizon store. He said he had been seeing a lot of the phones fail recently and was submitting the issue to a higher level.

#7 | | Junior Member | apparently some issue with pressing too hard on the touch sensitive buttons and activation towards the heat. that the button gets stuck on the on position or something or becomes insensitive.
thats the explanation I received today.

#9 | | Newbie | The Chocolate is a mess. I bought one for my son this past Christmas it lasted 7 months and started to have problems. The display was white and my son was only able to talk on speaker. We took it back and and they issued a replacement. The girl said that the replacement might be a "new" phone and it might not be. It's completely up to Verizon to decide whether they will send a new one or a refurbished one. Even though we are still under warranty! So, they sent a phone and it has been one month.. the screen is completely white and my son is no longer able to place or recieve calls on it. He just took it back tonight... for another replacement.
This is not an isolated situation. As is apparent from all of the complaints that you will find online and otherwise, about this phone.
Of course, you are always given the option of "upgrading". Geeezz..

#10 | | Newbie | I too am having the same issue w/the LG Chocolate phone purchased in Dec 06. With in 7 months it had to be replaced, which Verizon did, but represented as a new phone. in less than 2 months the screen went blank also. I was informed that they (Verizon) were well aware many problems w/orig Chocolate. (Two seperate sales reps) I also found out my phone was issued to someone else 3 mos prior to being sent out as a replacement for me. Obviously it had been returned, and I asked what the problem was, and what repairs were made - I was told I should not have been told about that.
More so than the problems w/this phone, I am upset that Verizon is not working to make their clients happy, by making good on these phones, which aparently are defective. My options were to be able to purchase another phone @ the one year contracted price - I already paid $100.00 for this phone~ which should have been marketed as disposable. I have had many LG phones in the past, but since this Chocolate experience, have looked at and purchased other brands. I'd be willing to go back should Verizon or LG ever make good on this one.

BTW, has there been any discussion on which cell phones work best (via Bluetooth) in which cars? I'd like to keep up on that, as I now have a car that uses Bluetooth and I had to replace the computer in the car because my first cell phone destroyed it (wrong cell phone for that car)!!!

I am now on my third one (replaced twice within one year). The first issue was the phone not fully charging ..... even on a new battery. The second issue was as jinx80 and SwtEmotn had stated, the phone's screen just went blank. The chocolate (this version anyway) has many problems. My two years is up in May and I cannot wait! Although....I'm thinking about going LG again with the VX10000 (Voyager). Hopefully I will be able to see some reviews of this phone prior to getting a new one in May.

We have the same problem with the softkeys/keypad. I spoke with a friend (after I got the choc) who has had to replace her phone for the FIFTH time. I will not be getting another chocolate after hearing from her and reading about the same issues in these forums

#15 | | Newbie | Update on problem with the chocolate.
Apparently, 3 strikes and they replace the phone with a different one.
Somewhat of a Lemon Law?
The 3rd time that my son took the replacement phone back to Verizon they issued a totally different phone.
He's had it for a couple of weeks and so far so good.
I'd like to be able to mess up 3 times with the same customer on my job.. and not be fired.
