Chocolate not charging properly

okay well um i have an LG Chocolate phone and like it died so i went to go charge it and plugged it in and usaully it says charging but right now it just shows the one verizon sign/logo like when you turn it on..... and it wont like work when i press the power button it just stays at the verizon sign.....SO PLEASE HELP
