Failure to transfer MP3's on Chocolate VX8500 (HELP!!!!)

I'm new here but I hope I can find some help here...

Ok, so I've never had any problems with my Chocolate before when it comes to putting music on the micro SD until recently. I have the MEK and installed the USB drivers and everything but when I plug it in, Windows does the sound thing like normal but when when I pick the Sync from both the Get Tunes & Tones and from the My Music lists, it will say:

"Connection Failure"
Make sure your cable is connected to the PC

I have two USB cables and two LG VX8500 phones and neither one will work. However, if I connect the charger with the USB, it works just fine even if the USB is connected to the computer. (Both phones are disconnected ffrom service, maybe that's what's wrong?)
When I retry a couple times, Windows will display the bubble saying found new hardware: MTP Device then the phone says Connect Failure then the bubble will pop up saying an error occured and the new hardware might not work properly.

Another thing to mention that baffles me is that when I try to set up V Cast Music on the computer, about where it's suppose to install Windows Media Player 10, it says that this version of Windows Media is not compatible with this version of Windows, however, I have Windows XP.

The same thing happens if I try to download Windows Media Player 10 from the Microsoft site.

I honestly have no idea what to do next and I'm at wit's end here. I've been told to get a card reader thing but I have no money to buy one.

Keep the telephone on when using the computer. Otherwise the computer doesn't know it is there.

From your description, it sounds like the windows drivers got messed up. Try to take a step backward and start again from what last worked.

I use BitPM to move music, photos, ringtones, etc.
