i have an mp3 file of a ringtone on my computer, how do i get it to the phone and install it?

The easiest way is to download and run BITPIM .... there is a feature in the product called RINGTONES - you simply point it to an MP3 file, snip a 30 second spot out of it, and save it to your RINGERS folder on the phone...

i haven't used bitpim yet, but i've gotten mp3 files onto my Dare to use as ring tones by just messaging them to myself from the computer. use your e-mail to send your phone a message with your phone's address being "yournumberhere"@vzwpix.com, no quotation marks, and attach the song as a file. when your phone gets the message, you have the option to save the song as a ringtone.

Good point - yes, that works as well .... but if you don't have a TEXT plan (I do not), there is a nominal charge for each TXT message... Thanks for clarifying.

have a follow-up question ... Do you have to shorten the MP3 file (e.g., EDIT it) before emailing it to your phone so that you have the right snippet of the song? BITPIM does a very nice job in editting the right section that you want, and allows you to play it and make adjustments before committing to the ring tone... Just a thought.
