Battery Life and turning on

My wife has the Dare which prompt me to purchase one as well since I liked the features as well as the battery life. My Dare doesn't hold battery life very long and requires a longer time to turn on compared to the wife's Dare. Monday I charged my Dare in the late afternoon with the phone off and the next morning, one bar had already dropped. Today, the second bar has dropped and might I add, I didn't make any phone calls, nor use the phone. Today, I had two phone calls. Bottom line, I rarely use it. Then, as I stated, my Dare takes awhile to turn on, about 30 to 45 seconds while the wife's turns on in less than 5 seconds. She has more pictures, contacts, etc. on her phone so I can't imagine it's loading.

Anyone have any idea why the battery life is shorter and the start up is longer? Can it be firmware? Would an upgrade be advantageous?

Maybe you got a crappy battery? How about swapping batteries with your Wife's Dare and see if the problem "moves" to her phone?

I'm not a heavy user of my phone -- probably receive/make calls 2-3 times per day; but I use the internet browser more often, especially in the evening when my main computer is turned off ------ I charge my DARE about every 4 days; and even at that, I usually have at least 1-2 bars.

Optionally, take it back the the store - you're still under warranty .. (and make sure they replace it with a NEW phone ... not a refurb ...)

Try taking it to a Verizon store, they can help you there, and maybe replace the phone.

Thanks for the replies. The main problem is I bought the phone used and not from Verizon. Therefore, no warranty and I doubt they will replace it. I'll talk to them and determine a solution.

FWIW....I make about one call a day, if that and sometimes don't use it for days. This morning, the phone shut down due to the dead battery. Only four days from it's original charge which I posted. It's irritating.

Did you try swapping the battery with the 1 in your wife's phone as I suggested? Just to isolate if it's the phone or the battery????? A new battery will be a lot cheaper than a new phone.

Plan to do that when she arrives home from work...if she'll let it go.

Just as a "test" to see if the problem travels with the battery, or still exists on your phone. If it's still an issue for your phone, then maybe have the firmware/software "refreshed" at a VZN store (version 6) ....

BTW, what version firmware is on your phone??? 6 is the latest.
