LG Dare - SD Card

So I just went out and bought a 1GB SD card for my phone, hopeing to be able to put pictures and music on my phone, but i'm having problems.

I inserted my SD card into my computer and a window popped up (the SD card files). I used Limewire to put mp3 files on there, and moved some pictures over from My Pictures. It says that it is copying the files to the card. After that, i took the card out of my computer and put it in my LG Dare. It froze for a few seconds then went to the menu. I went to Settings > Memory > Card Memory > Options > Format.

This took a few minutes and then finished, I went to look in my pictures and found that they were'nt there. I went back to the Card Memory option and looked at my Memory Usage and found that I hadn't used any memory on my card.

Tips or help please.

You did it backwards. You can't format the memory card in the phone, and expect your files to be there.

Formatting the card wipes everything out. Just put the card back into your computer.
Instead of using Limewire to copy your files to your memory card, just use Windows (Open My Computer and you should see your memory card listed).

I did what you just said and did NOT format the SD card. Went to my Pictures on the phone through the card and still found nothing on my phone.

yea, what cellphonesgb said - you did it all backward. If you put it in the Dare and FORMAT it, you reset the card to it's native state -- this SHOULD have put like 5 directories (folders) on your formatted Card. After formatting it, remove it and place it in your computer and open the card's folders. Do you see any??? You should see thing like MY_PICS, MY_VIDEO, MY_MUSIC, etc... (something like that anyway.) Then you just drag your MP3 files into the MUSIC folder and the phone should detect them.

k i formatted it in my phone, removed it, and stuck it into the computer. the computer recognized it. It opened the SD Card folder but there were no other folders inside. ie. MY_MUSIC and so on.

that is very strange ... no idea why that isn't working for you ... By the way, when I purchased my 8 GB SD Card, I didn't have to do anything. I bought it at the VZN store, pre-packaged, and just inserted it in my phone and all was good right from the start. I guess you CUOLD try to make the few Folder manually on the card from Windows ... we ARE talking WINDOWS and not MAC, right?

Ive created these folders and filled them with a few media items. I then safely removed the hardware and put it in my phone. I looked for the card memory and it appears that I have used no space at all. If you need a picture of the card memory on the phone, let me know.

What did you name the folders? The MUST be named:

media
my_flix
my_music
my_pix
my_sounds


and MUST all be in 'lower' case ...

I've created all these folders and only put some music in my_music. Put it back into my phone and still got nothing.

It would be easier if you had an msn or yahoo that I could contact you easier with and we could just TeamViewer this.

Sorry, I'm at a loss - and certainly no expert.

Maybe just take it into a VZN store and have them format it or look at the issue.

I had the same problem when I first inserted my card but it cleared up in a couple of days.
