Shutting down at night.... sleep mode?

I recently purchased a Dare (used) and it works great except for 1 problem. It is shutting down every night, and will not power on untill charger is plugged in. When I hit the power button the next morning, the verizon sign comes up, but it does not power on. Its like its going into sleep mode and won't "wake up".

There has been 2 bars of battery when I go to bed and the display is going off like it should, so I have no idea what could be causing this. I hear no beeping during the night, so I'm thinking its not the battery?

There is no sleep mode section in the manual, and not even a troubleshooting guide?

Anyone had this problem?

Very strange ... I'm guessing that whomever you bought it from didn't disclose this issue? There is no "sleep" mode, as you pointed out. Is this a US-based Dare or Telsus? Mine is a US based DARE so I can only compare what I'm seeing on mine.

Try removing the battery and leaving it out for a couple of mins. and reinsert it. Does it Power Up ? And does it actually CHARGE to a full 4 bars via the charger (not the USB cable in a PC). As a test, I would just make sure it is "CHARGE COMPLETE" at the end of the day and see how it behaves. If you can't get a FULL Charge, I would suspect the battery.

Thanks for the input.... I charged it for a good hour last night, (up to 3 bars) and it made it thru the night with no problem. I have to assume it was just the battery discharging overnight, but with 2 bars shouldn't it hold charge for 7 hrs with no usage?

Might be time for a new battery.... or at least a spare

I wouldn't trust the 2 Bar scenario ... On mine, 1 morning I'll have 2 bars and then suddenly later that day I'll have 3 - go figure. ... it really depends on how much use it gets, and what TYPE of use ... e.g., Phone calls tend to really use the most battery, in my experience - YMMV ... Also, heavy use of the music player can draw on it. I'm not a heavy user of the phone though -- I can usually go 4-5 ays wihout needing to recharge ... That with like 4 calls per day and maybe 1 hour of music playing. (I dont' text). Oh, and most people suggest that you SHOULD let it drain ... that is, if you have 3-4 bars, don't get in the habit of recharging it to "top it off" -- that can shorten the battery life of these lithium batteries ... so they say ... Personally I have no proof of that, but I don't TOP IT either.

Anyway, I agree - you might just want to go get a new battery from a VZN store or equivalent. Maybe that will fix all your issues.
