The inner screen died the other day and I just got my replacement phone. I took the old phone and the new one to my verizon dealer to transfer the data from my old phone to my new phone. I was told by the women who attempted this that they could not transfer the data. Is there any other way to do this? Can I transfer it to a computer and then my new phone? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It depends on what "data" you are talking about. Verizon can move your address book but not much else. BitPim can read/write your calendar but it can only read messages (can't write them back to the phone).

Things you should do going forward... Get BitPim and use it to backup your phonebook, calendar, and ringtones every so often. Make sure you've loaded Verizon's Backup Assistant (free if you use their website and it stores more information than BitPim so it can restore "default numbers" and "speed-dial settings") and buy an SD card and set your phone to store music and pictures on the card.

My enV2 got bricked when they updated the firmware a couple weeks ago. It took all of 5 minutes for Verizon to give me a new phone and reload the phonebook. I just plopped in the SD card from the old phone and I walked out of the store with all 600 songs, 7 hours of video, and bunches of pictures ready-to-go. Once I got home, I had BitPim put my ringtones and calendar back on.

I had purchased the "unlimited" version of Solitaire and had to re-purchase it. But I called 611 and they said that a re-buy of something within 6 months is free and they promptly credited me for both the purchase and the data charge.

Go to a different Verizon store or to a Best Buy Mobile store. It can be done. But Byteguy is right, they can only really get the phonebook to transfer. Pictures and music are very difficult to transfer all at once from a working phone using the transfer machines.

My inner screen is also dead. Can anybody walk me through transferring all my videos to my microSD? I was able to do it already for my pix after reading through some web sites, but could not find the step by step for videos.
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Try this.

    OK (to start menu system)
    9 - for tools
    9 - for memory
    2 - for phone memory
    3 - for Videos
(now, there's a list you can't see of your videos)
Press the right soft-button (above the 8 and 9) to go to Options
    2 - for Move
Press the right soft-button to Mark All
Press the LEFT soft-button (above the 3 and 4) for Done
(It's now asking if you want to move to the Card) Hit OK for Yes
Wait a minute or two to give it time to move. You should hear a beep when it's done

That should do it. Good luck.

Do you want to spend money on keeping extracting the information? I think it all really depends on how much the data means to you..

Thanks for all the info, I didn't know what's transferable and what isn't. I didn't know about that BitPim app so now I will use this. Thanks!
