Use Google or Wikipedia to understand what .. is:
Hash (or Checksum)
RSA (PKI)
Certificate and Signing process...
The *.sig file you know. Is to protect
against manipulation...
You can open with an Text or Hexeditor and see
signed files by file names...
See Screenshot.
*.MIF and *.MOD files are
EVER protected by this *.SIG file...
You can't modify *.MIF or *.MOD without loose validity of *.sig...
Hash (MD5) is changed...
Their are
2 types of *.sig file...
1.
*.sig from manufacturer
This is an Certification/Signature, that all files are
not manipulated...
2.
Testsignature... for Developer... works with
EVERY App.
You can change what you want...
Its like
MASTERKEY for all doors.
Only "Limitation". It is locked to
ESN... It includes the
ESN and compare with
your handset... instead the filenames and Hash Values...
Summary
For installation via cable you need an
VALID *.sig file.
If you have no Testsig, you can't modify 1 Byte... nor you can't install via cable...
as you have no valid SIGnature (*.sig) anymore...
