I did do the upgrade for my Voyager. It won't be my Voyager for much longer. I discovered a bug. Using the browser, certain websites will now cause the phone to crash. Working with Verizon which talked with LG while I was on the phone (LG created to new software), LG acknowledged that the new software reallocates some of the memory away from the browser. I use Comcast's mobile web site, for example, quite often. After going into my email while there, if I try to maneuver anywhere else on the website, the entire phone crashes.
Verizon had me try a different unit, as well as one of the new Tungsten Voyagers. Same problem. Moreover, they don't have the older software/firmware anymore.
The newer software, aside from the RAM issue, is slicker, with more sensitive touch to the touchscreen, and a couple of other small, but nice features. The phone crashing, however, makes it now unacceptable to me. Verizon has decided to offer me full credit on the Voyager toward a DARE. I prefer the true
QWERTY of the Voyager, but getting to Comcast's site is important to me.
The next step for Voyager and LG, they said, is to work with the developer of Comcast's site to try to work out issues that make the current Voyager incompatible with the mobile Comcast website. I'm guessing that eventually other users will encounter other sites that cause the same problem.
