Hi edj0527,
You can convert a sound from "My Sounds" to a ringtone but Verizon and LG don't make it easy. This is probably because Verizon wants you to buy ringtones from them. The trick is to send the sound to yourself in a text message because the sounds attached to a text message can be saved as ringtones. Here's how (note: my instructions assume that you're
LG Voyager is open and you're using the
qwerty keyboard)...
1 - Press the "OK" button, run the Media Center and select "1. Music & Tones".
2 - Select "5. My Sounds".
3 - Select the sound that you want to convert to a ringtone.
4 - Open the "Options" menu (right soft key).
5 - Select "1. Send" to create a multimedia message with the attached sound.
6 - Send the message to yourself (if you have entered yourself in your Contacts lists, then open the "Add" menu (right soft key) and select "1. From Contacts" and then mark yourself as the recipient and press "Done" (left soft key). Otherwise, you'll need to enter your phone number in the "To" box.
7 - When the message arrives, open it and the sound should begin to play.
8 - Open the "Options" menu (right soft key).
9 - Select "5. Save As Ringtone".
This trick of sending sounds to yourself via a text message so they can be converted to ringtones works with a wide variety of sound files. It works with
midi files, mp3, wma and even sound files that you record, yourself, with your LG Voyager.
