First I want to give my thanks to all the posts I was able to find online. This is a compilation of those posts. I had to adapt a few things but it works great for me. I had a hard time trying to get BitPim to see the phone as with Telus you don’t get drivers and it is next to impossible to find. Now I did try and download some LG generic drivers and now am not sure if one of them is what finally worked or if it was the Vista that finally loaded them. Yes I'm running Vista. It works so don’t want to mess with at this time lol.
1. First like everyone else the basics remain the same. Utilize a program to cut down your files to less than 30 seconds. Audacity works well but I found WavePad Master’s Editon worked great for me. You will also have to load the latest test version of BitpiM too.
2. Now go into your phone settings and memory. Change your USB mass storage from Automatic to Manual.
3. Now launch BitPim and plug in your phone. It will recognize it as "other
cdma phone on com(#)", you will see this in the bottom corner of the window.
4. Now under the BitPim and go to Edit/settings and go into phone Wizard and select Telus, lg and
LG Voyager.
5. Click next, select com # you saw earlier, for me it was com 5. Click next and then finish and ok. You should be good to go.
6. Now in the second column click on the plus sign on the filesystem to expand the directory. Then expand
brew the folder "
brew", then "shared", then right click ringtone and click "new file" and add whatever ringtone you have made.
Finally, right click anywhere in the window where you can see the ringtones added and click "reboot phone"
If your phone doesn't reboot properly, just manually shut it off and turn it back on. Check your ringtones and your added ringtones should appear with a red marker next to them.
I couldn’t have done this without all of you and hope this helps others.
