Incoming final word, heads up!
Chaging file extensions does not change the actual file. If you have something named mysong.mid and you change it to mysong.mp3, it is STILL A MIDI FILE. It just has the mp3 extension, so the computer (and the phone i imagine) tries to read it as an mp3 file, but since its not ACTUALLY an mp3 file, it runs into problems.
The easiest way to get mp3's onto your VX6000 is to go to CellBoy's post at the top of this section of the forum and read it. Get a data cable (check out ebay. i got mine for $6) and download the newest version of BitPim (google it. its easy.)
You can put files striaght onto the phone in mp3 format, although you're gonna want to cut them down to around 30-40 seconds, and if you want to save space, make them mono instead of stereo.

just get a regular midi and email it to yourself... pretty much all popular mp3s should be available in mid format...
i got the same phone, it's easy, just email it to your phone and you are all set...

MP3 and MIDI are two fundamentally different ways of representing sound. mp3 IS waveform, and MIDI is note commands. It can not be simply "converted" one into another. This task is somewhat similar to handwritten text or speech recognition.
Here is detailed explanation of the problem:

I'm so confused
how much does one of those data cables cost?

or if you are really lazy, just turn up the volume and record it on to your phone, then send it to yourself as a voice memo and save the sound and set it as your ringtone. the sound is kind of scratchy but with better speakers it sounds good

Or, find a songclip you like (make sure it's 30 seconds or less, or your particular phone won't accept the clip). If it's still an mp3, go into Windows Explorer, find the song, rename the extention. Example:
yoursong.mp3 should be yoursong.mid.
Once it is, just email it to your phone. It'll cost a few cents, but, add up the cost of the cable vs. how many clips you'll send to your phone, and see what's cheaper.
To email to your phone, it would be, your number at vzwpix.com. Example:
If your number is 123-456-7890 then your Verizon Email address would be:
[email protected] (by the way, don't click on this, duh. It's just for show purposes)
Once the email reaches your phone, just go in and save the song and that's it. You now have a songclip on your phone.

Hello
I thought I would see if anyone knows anything about mmf files used by LG Content Bank. I have tons of midi files to use as ringtones, but I cannot get bitpim to work with my LG 4015 so I switched to Content Bank and it does not seem to recognize these files. I am also not having much luck with content bank as I keep getting the "Error : CME-3" but at least this one connects my phone where bitpim did not seem to recognize it.
Thanks,
Art
