LG 6070 To charge battery or not...

Hi,
I read in the manual that I need it to charge the battery when i'm not using my cell (LG 6070) because it will make the battery last longer. But my bro told me not to let it charge when I'm not using it because it might damage the battery if I charge it for nothing. He told me to let the battery to be charge full then when the battery almost die, recharge it.
So my question is, do I listen to the manual (let it charge when not using my cell) or listen to my bro (don't charge it when not using it).

1. U keep using and charging the phone, the maximum life of battery will shrink
2. U use it till the end and charge it less, the maximum life of battery can be conserved.

- u can never recharge a battery to the same as before, the battery life will shrink (maximum capacity to hold energy shrinks)

**try not to charge ur battery too much, the life shrinks whenever u try to recharge**

i.e. I had a VX6000 for about a year. I could use the phone for about 2 days without charging when i first got it, but since i kept charging it, the battery barely lasts one day...
