Easy Mp3 Ringers

Alright since I hate soundforge, and all the people trying to explain how to get Mp3 ringers on your phone... here is how I finally got it done.

This is for windows users.

You will need BitPim .62 for the VX6000, as well as a CD Ripping program called CDex, found at

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/c...1.exe?download

Install CDex, and open it up.

Click on the Convert menu, and click where it says "Convert compressed audio files to WAV files"

Then Browse and find your Mp3.

Click convert, and make note of where the new .wav is saved.

Then use Sound Recorder (standard windows program --- Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder --- ) to open up the .wav file, and crop the part of the song you want as a ringer.

Once the file is the size you want it, go to file and then save.

Use CDex once again to reverse the conversion -- Click Convert and then click "Convert .wav files to compressed audio files".

That's all you need to do. Then just use BitPim .62 to add the file to your phone.

I'm assuming this is for any polyphonic capable phone? I just got an LG L1200 so I'll try this when it comes in.

crop just means edit the .wav file down to the size you want your ringer to be.

Just open it in Sound Recorder, play to where you want your ringer to start, and then go to edit>delete before current position.

Play to where you want your ringer to end, and then go to edit>delete after current position.

Save and use CDex to put it back into Mp3

Use BitPim

The only problem I can see with that is using BitPim -- I have no idea if it supports the 1200, but I'm sure it isn't that hard to find out.

To everyone else - Sorry I keep putting so many posts on this I keep getting urges to comment.

I couldnt get CDex to work on Windows98SE, so i have my cable,Bitpim, which i have no problems using for wallpapers or ringers!!!!!Heres the problem. When i try and make myself a good ringer, i use creative recorder to cut the portion of the mp3 that i want to use. This makes it a wav file. I use DBPower Amp converter to convert back into an MP3. But when i download the MP3 to my phone it dosent seem loud enough. I have a LX5550. I use the same process to put ringers on my wifes LX5450 and the volumn is fine. Can you help me figure out what i am doing wrong to make my ringers so soft compared to the ones that came on the phone? I have the ringer turned all the way up, but my ringers are only about 50% as loud as the ones that came with the phone. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks Terry

I've never used creative recorder to edit my .wav file, but if it's possible try and use that program to increase the volume of your .wav file... if it isn't, I know you can do it in Sound Recorder (basic windows program), although u can only do it to a certain point before the quality goes to ****. So my suggestion would be to increase the volume of the .wav before you convert it back to .mp3.... Also, you may try using a different version of CDex... a list of archived releases can be found at....

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...p?group_id=567

I don't have any idea if any of them are compatible with 98se tho... best of luck to you.

I can't add MP3 files to my phone with BITPIM.

Edit: Also, I don't have a data cable.

well, you've basically helped yourself. for bitpim, you need a data cable. bitpim pushes the ringtone throught the cable. if you want to use bitpim you need to get the data cable.
