i dont think its possible...unless theres a way to do it by messing with the filesystem.

ill look and see if i can figure it out. ill let you know if i find out how.

EDIT -- i was looking, and in the "download" section in the filesystem(on bitpim) it says something about poweron.??? but i wasnt gonna mess with it bcuz the verizon screen doesnt really bother me that much and i dont wanna mess my phone up.
