Does anyone else have the new L1400 yet? I love it! The only thing I dislike is the lack of information in the User Guide. On one page they mention, and I quote:

PC Sync is a program for data exchange between PC and the phone by a data cable. Therefore, if you want to use this function, you have to buy the accessory kit.

I have the data cable, but nowhere on the LG site or the Cingular site do they say where to get this software. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Ed,

Yes, the LG website is pretty poor. Until a few days ago, they had no info at all about the L1400. I've had one for a few days, and it's a nice phone, but the PC Sync issue has me frustrated too.

I've seen posts elsewhere saying to use the LG 1100 software on the 1400. I've spent a good deal of time on this, and it works only partially. You can upload rings, but not download photos. The sync portion only allows you to edit the phonebook. It does NOT sync with Outlook via the 1100. Sofware. Big bummer.

Another poster said a call to LG USA had him directed to Susteen's Datapilot sofware.

    http://www.datapilot.com/

Unfortunately, the website indicates the sofware only works with image transfer and the phonebook, but not the calendar.

I'd be very dissapointed if this phone can't sync the calendar as does my Nokia 6800. Nokia also provides (for free I might add) a very nice sofware package for Sync, photo manipulation, ring, etc.

I wonder if what LG is (supposedly?) selling is the Datapilot product, or something different?

Thanks for the info. I may try the Datapilot since all I'm really interested in is being able to transfer images and ringtones, and possibly the phone book.

    Thanks for the lead David.

For the rest of you tempted to try this...

I did download this, but there's a couple of issues. It's all in Portugese, and secondly, it appears to be for CDMA phones. I'd be tempted to try it, but I'm afraid I might do more harm than good.

One is clear though, this app is much more like what Nokia offers. I wonder if somwhere there's an english version for GSM phones, or perhaps LG will eventually offer one?

    I do hope so.

Well, they also have this one for GSM phones, but it only appears to be for the G5300, G5400 and G7100:

I agree with you, though. I hope they give us something for the L1400.

Well, I tried the G7050 and the G7100 software and neither appears to work with the L1400.

It says Connecting 1, 115200 (Com1, baud rate 115,200 bps), but just sits there and never actually connects.

    sorry for the lateness...

    been out and about.. anyways...

well you should've had drivers with your usb data cable. configure that.. i think it should either be comm port 3 or 4 since ports 1 and 2 are used by the mobo.

once you configure the driver for the data cable, configure the software to match. you should be golden (cross our fingers)!!

    late,
    k

I got one yesterday and spent quite a bit of time trying to get my contact list transfered from outlook. I bought the data kit from Cingular and it only allows you to use the phone as a modem for internet connectivity. No other funtionality with their software.

I ended up finding out that I did not need the cable at all. The phone has an IR port on the side. With the free software you can get from LG you can import/export outlook contacts thru the IR port.

You can get the software from:
    http://us.lge.com/download/product/f...45/LGSetup.exe

You will also need this free IRComm tool:
    http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/~kis...-1.2.1-eng.zip

The IR tool will map your IR port to a standard COM port like COM5. From there you can configure the PC Sync software you get from LG to connect via IRComm from the option menu. I guess if you only have the serial cable then just use whatever Com port it is connected to.

I am still looking for something decent that will do image transfers and such. An app that does true sycronization with outlook would be nice too. With the LG softare you can just import/export, it is not really a true sync tool.

Thanks Don71! I searched for about 30 minutes before finding your post with the software I needed to connect my wife's LG C1300 to our PC to synch with our Outlook address book.

It worked like a charm! Thanks!
