Has anybody had experience with the LG 6190?

I'm considering buying one of them but they're pretty new and only available in Canada (i think) so it's hard to find reviews.

    Here's some info

I just purchased my LG 6190 yesturday, and so far I am quite impressed with it. I bought it initially because of the voice-command and voice-digit dialing features (which do not need to be taught to the phone to work). For that purpose it works very well.

I had no interest in most of it's features when I bought it, and I thought the 'fasttap' keyboard was way too busy looking and that I would certainly press the wrong buttons by mistake. Well, after entering in over 40 contacts into the phone, I can tell you that the keyboard is excelent! Not once did I accidentally press the wrong button. And the on-screen menus are very intuitive and easy to navigate.

However, I'm a little concerned about the camera lense. Unlike the Motorola V710 (which is about $200 more, but with similar features) the camera is recessed into the phone a little. I thought this would make it more dificult to put my finger on the lense (and get it dirty) when closing the phone, but that is not the case. I just wonder how much dirt that little recess will collect over the years. The camera functions seem to work well, but I prefer a propper digital camera.

The 'driving mode' (speaker phone) seems to work well, although I've only just started testing that function.

The physical size and weight is good. It's not so tiny that I feel like I might drop it by accident, Quite the opposite in fact. Once the phone is open, the size, weight, and balance feel quite good to me.

Now, as for the default wallpapers (background pictures) and ringtones, there is only a very limited selection. And no games. This is not a big deal to me, as this is a phone and not an entertainment device. It is a tool for communication, not a toy. Besides, if you want more they can be added, although the phone did not come with any kind of computer hook-up cable or software, so I guess you need to rely on your telehone service provider's services (for which they always charge money, often too much).

All in all, after only one day with this phone, I am quite pleased with it. It's a very good tool.

    - James.
