I plugged in an external antenna from Wilson Electronics, and now my phone won't work without it. I get no signal with the external antenna unplugged. A cell phone repair shop said they could fix it for $35. Does anyone know how to get the phone's program out of the "external antenna only" mode? This is about to start me on a binge!!!

Even tho the LG manuals may be crud, read them, it was in the first 3 pages that said, "Use only the supplied and approved atenna. Use of unauthorized antennas or modifications could impair call quality, Damage the phone, etc. So there you go, possibly read the fine print before adding things to your phone. tsk.

You gotta be kidding Drew. LG doesn't offer an external antenna for their VX3200, yet they put a plug on the back of the phone for one, then tell you not to use it....Hmmmm. I bought the highest quality antenna on the market (Wilson Electronics) and blow my phone.....Hmmmmm. It's in Verizon's hands now, they've got the phone. I should hear back in a couple weeks on the verdict. In the mean time they've sent me a "loaner". Oh and yep, I read the manual, and did the research.

troutfisher9,
LMK if you find out what caused the issue. The Wilson antenna's ARE the best of them, so I'd suspect an issue with the phone. If the phone can't handle an external antenna, they damn well shouldn't put a connector on FOR one.
Anyway, I plan to use the same setup (Wilson roof cell antenna with LG VX3200) on a trip accross the country next week, hope it doesn't cause it to hack a furrball likes yours apparently did.

Hey TomJ,
Verizon still has my phone. Said it may take up to 6 weeks. I haven't plugged the antenna into this replacement phone yet.
I would suggest that you set up the antenna and plug it into your phone BEFORE turning the phone on. Not sure if this is what caused my phone to fail, but I plugged in the adaptor, then screwed on the antenna with my phone turned ON. Wasn't thinking it through when I plugged mine in.
I guess the good news is that the phone worked great with the antenna in areas where my calls wouldn't go through before. So they really do work as advertised.
I'll let you know when I get it back, hopefully before you take off on your trip.

Yeah, do LMK when you get it back, but I suspect they won't tell you what the problem was.
Just got my phone yesterday and it has a 15day return warr on it, so I might just do the hookup when I get the adapter (359909?) and if it locks like yours, I'll just take it back into the store and get another one?

The phone will work great in most all locations without the antenna, but if your driving along and talking, it's really nice not dropping those calls. I've got the 301103 antenna on my pickup and the 301101 on my big rig. Same adaptor, the 359909.
I've had this phone for 11 months, so I timed LG's 1 year warranty just right. I am going to plug this replacement phone into the antenna when I get my phone back, and see what happens. If it's all good, then I'll start using my antennas again, but for now I'll put up with spotty coverage in the northern CA mountains.

Well, I tried the external antenna and it didn't get stuck on it, worked correctly after turning off and D/C'ing, but it did lose my log-in password. Went back to the default pass. Weird, I think the phone has SW issues when using the external antenna. Hope it doesn't get stuck like yours did while I'm on my trip.
