Yes I do have my phone connected to the antenna, and I sit in my comfortable chair when I talk on the phone! There are 2 kinds of amplifiers one that is a Wireless Repeater and one that is Direct-Connect Amplifier. The Wireless Repeater cost about $100.00 more than the Direct-Connect Amplifier. You can check out www.primecellular.com they have both.

    Maccandy,

I thought you might be connected directly to the antenna. For most people though they need mobility within their home office. It is a mobile phone

Do you know if the amplifier from Primecellular is FCC approved? Have you tried one of these?

    Maccandy,

I looked at the prime cellular website closely and it looks like they have a 50dB repeater for in building coverage like Wireless Extender device but it is priced at $329. I believe Wireless Extender device touts 60dB so this should give greater indoor coverage.

The Wilson add states " FCC Type Accepted", what ever that means. And no I have not tried one, the antenna works good enough that I don't need to spend the money. I even bought the Trucker Antenna for my 5th wheel. I will try it out tomorrow and see how it works.

    Maccandy,

You are also getting improvements for your cell phone just because you have antenna placed higher up above the ground so that antenna may be in better line of sight to the cell tower than the antenna on your phone.

You may want to try a low cost antenna to see if that works for you instead of getting $100 antenna.

The Trucker Antenna only cost $37.00 at primecellular.com and I already bought them. I'm happy!
