Help with USB Data Cable

I just bought a USB Data Cable for my LG L1400, and I'm having trouble getting it to work. It said in the advertisement that I was supposed to be able to sync address books, etc. to my computer, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've installed the CD, and plugged the cable in, and the charging function works, but I can't get the computer to see my phone at all.

Help!

describe your cable does it say "USB-UART Tx" or is it all black with a small black box in the middle of it?

make sure your usb ports work and are setup correctly. either plug something else into your usb port and see if that works.
or right click on my computer and goto properties and then goto the hardware tab and click on device manager. at the bottom of the list is your usb port drivers if they have an exclamation mark or something similar like a red X you have a usb port problem.
