I'd like to know this as well. Anyone have any luck with this particular phone and a data cable? I really don't want to pay Verizon so I can have ringtones on my phone that aren't lame.

I have the VX5200. With Mobile Action Software for the GL VX5200, i can upload ringtones to phone easily. Have also found a great free wav to mp3 converter so that they can be uploaded also.

Is that software available for download or will I need to buy it with a cable?

It can be downloaded free of charge, if you already have a cable.

There has to be someone on this forum that has purchased a data cable from eBay. I'm only curious so I can learn from their experience and go with a cable and software package that is reliable. I don't want to waste my time or my money with a lousy cable and questionable software.

I paid less than $30 for cable and software package. I figured I could have saved a few bucks by buying cheaper cable and downloading software but didn't want to take the chance with ruining a phone that would cost $200 to replace. What is peace of mind worth.

I'm not trying to suggest that the cheapest cable possible is the best. But rather that many of you have purchased cables and successfully use them. So I would like to draw from your experiences so that I can do the same. If that means I have to pay more for a cable, fine. But I simply want to know where a reliable merchant is, so that I'm not wasting my time and my money. I'm well aware of how much my phone cost and I don't want to ruin it was lousy software and equipment. I'm simply seeking answers and some suggestions based on the precious experience of others.

I bought MobileAction software with cable. WORKS GREAT. Do a search for MA-8032P. That is the version of software that works with the 5200. Some of the merchants offer free shipping. If you check, you will find the best price for the package. May have to download the current version of software as the 5200 is reatively new and what they send may not be but the cable is. I am new to uploading to phones but this software is VERY easy.
